Maging Alerto: A DRRM Talk

In December 7, 2019 I went home to San Jose City, Nueva Ecija to conduct a talk with the local barangay officials regarding the current state of our barangay when it comes to disaster risk preparedness. I was fortunate enough to get to talk to Mr. Ibrado Dulay, our barangay captain.

What do you think are the effects of these hazards and disasters to the community?

 

 

 

 

For you, what are the major problems faced in local governments that act as hindrance to disaster preparedness?

 

 

“Disiplina. Kasi kung walang disiplina ang mga tao, wala ding pagbabago na magaganap kumbaga useless lahat ng paghahanda diba? At siguro pangalagaan talaga yung kalikasan kasi dyan talaga nagsisimula ang lahat. ‘Wag magtapos ng basura kung saan saan para di bumara sa mga drainage system at magtanim ng maraming puno.”

 

 After the short talk, Sir Dulay together with his assistant and secretary, Mrs. Dela Cruz accompanied me to take a walk within the community premises. They also discussed how cooperative the people are of the implemented rules and regulations of the municipal government.
